Venue review:
Ordered a vegan hot dog, fries and the ultimate chocolate brownie with ice cream. Also received a complementary drink and popcorn for watching a throwback film. My total came to £15.52 including my 10% membership discount. Although a little steep, you get your food out to your seat. The vegan hot dog was large in size and tasty which is usually not the case for vegan alternatives.
Had to use the toilet which maintains a horror movie aesthetic with eerie red neon lights in the corridor. Toilets were clean and stylish, with a plentiful supply of toilet paper.
I found the broadgate location to be much more snazzy and luxurious than the King’s Cross location. The whole atmosphere was pretty relaxed and informal. Once again, there wasn’t anyone checking tickets and anybody could walk in to the screening. I have yet to watch a new release at Everyman to see if this is only the case for throwback films.
Even though the screening showed that all the good seats were booked, most were empty when the screening started.
The sofas were comfy and the screen was much bigger than the King’s Cross location. However, as my seat was next to the exit, It was easy to get distracted by audience members leaving/returning. Also, any giggles, chattering and laughter is lot louder then in a normal cinema, because of the size of the room.
☠️ Film Review ☠️
A swashbuckling and fast-paced adventure with the story of star-crossed lovers, petulant aristocracy, pesky pirates and a star-studded cast. The curse of the black pearl is action packed with clever quips, gory gags and regular plot-twists keeping the audience on the edge of their seat.
Johnny Depp plays jack sparrow effortlessly and ensures an entertaining balance of humour and wittiness. Lots of exhilarating sword fights and awkward shenanigans keep the movie fun and upbeat. However, the slapstick moments do start to become predictable and overused closer to the end of the film.
Captain Barboso’s death was poignant and it was refreshing to see a brief emotional moment following the fiascos in the finale. Although, the film does become a little long in the tooth close to the end, it provides enough exhilarating moment’s to entertain a diverse audience.
